Drum Corps Ear Protection

A brief note of thanks to Mr Schneider and Mr Wallace who graciously donated ear protection for the drum corps. Since 2008 we have practiced inside, with drums rather than on the table, and the noise level can be extreme. Thanks to their donations we should have fewer ringing ears after each practice!

Bottle and Cans - thanks for Scouts

We have completed another period of can and bottle collection.  Twice a year the Troop pays out 1 cent for each can that the boys bring in.  This is our primary source of income for the Troop, so we really appreciate all the donations.  We averaged a little over 1000 cans per boy – a very good number.  We are challenging the boys to each bring in at least 500 cans before our next payout.  We will be paying out again before we go to camp in July, so ask the aunts, uncle, grandparents and neighbors to help your scout collect as many cans as possible.

** Special thanks to those boys that donated their money back to the troop (names in red)

Valley Pines Campout - 12/12

The season for winter camping is upon us. We will be headed to Valley Pines this weekend and the boys should expect seasonal conditions. We plan on doing some training for the Klondike Derby as well as some merit badge work.

Boys should bring lunch, dinner and breakfast. Please remember to bring everything you need to prepare your meals and also remember that breakfast should be something that doesn't need to be cooked.

For some tips on cold weather camping, check out this site.

Klondike Derby - the training begins

The Troop will be putting together a team to compete in this year's Klondike Derby.  Many of our scouts have competed as Cub Scouts, but this will be the first year the Troop has competed.  The event takes place on Saturday February 6.  Until then, we will be busy on training and preparing for the event.
