Corporate and Personal Donations

We are very grateful to several companies that have made gracious donations to the WHC and Troop 2 through fund matching and volunteer sponsoring opportunities. These corporations include State Street Bank and Verizon.

Please check at work - these donations were all driven by members of the Troop who took advantage of corporate matching programs through their employers.

All donations directly benefit your son - they support our activities, they lower the costs to your son, and they assure we can continue with our programs.

The Weymouth Heights Club is a nonprofit organization that sponsors our troop - donations can include money and time, as well as material goods such as old uniforms, camping equipment, raffle items for our annual Eagle banquet, foodstuffs, etc. Your gift may be tax deductible.

We're also looking for a donations of small outboard engines - 6 HP to 30 HP - 2 stroke ideally -to replace an engine lost in Newfound Lake this summer.

Please contact the WHC Treasurer, President, or the Scoutmaster if you have questions.

You are also encouraged to continue donating returnable cans and bottles, as this is the sole funding mechanism for the Troop. If you need a pickup, please contact the Weymouth Heights Club at 781-331-6006.

Troop 2 Bottles & Cans - We Need Your Help!

As a reminder, Troop 2 collects and redeems bottles and cans.

Processing of redeemable materials is done on Thursday evenings at 7 PM in the WHC garage.

We need adult volunteers to help with this program, as this is our fundraising source and assures costs are kept to a minimum.
Currently less than a dozen volunteers participate regularly, and most Thursdays we see 3 or 4 volunteers. Many members of our group have never participated.

We need more support from the group to make this program successful
Please see Mr. Chase if you have any questions or can help us out.

Assistance can be as simple as dropping off empty beer case boxes, helping sort on Thursday, picking up the materials on Wednesdays, emptying the two redemption boxes on the WHC property, or dropping off materials at the redemption center on Saturday morning
Donations of clear 55 gallon drum liners (available at BJ's for $15.00) are helpful as well.

Details - Shawnee Peak Ski Trip – January 11-13

This weekend (Friday Jan 11th – Sunday Jan 13th) is the annual Troop 2 Ski Trip to Shawnee Peak, Maine. We stay in the Shawnee Peak House, with scouts located on two floors and adults on the ground floor. Adults are present at the mountain and in the chalet throughout the day. Many adults also ski and are on the slopes with the scouts.

Our accommodations are within walking distance of the mountain, and we also shuttle the scouts to the base on a regular schedule.

Lodging, lift tickets, and rentals are included in the event. Scouts can earn the Snow Sports merit badge, as well as learning to ski and snowboard.

Our accommodations are at The Shawnee Peak House, a 10-bedroom self-service guesthouse. Each room features a private bath. The common area offers a fully equipped kitchen, double fireplace, games, a Bumper pool table, cable TV, DVD player, phone and WIFI.  Scouts should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, and towels.

For directions to Shawnee Peak and our accomodations, please visit their website at www.shawneepeak.com

If you prefer to follow someone to the mountain, the shuttle van for the weekend will be leaving the Weymouth Heights Club at 3:30 PM.

All meals are included in the price of this event, and are prepared by adult volunteers at the Shawnee Peak House.  Meals include Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday.  Friday evening please bring a bag lunch or eat on the way to the mountain. Scouts can bring a small amount of spending money should they want to purchase refreshments at the ski slope.

Participants can arrive on Friday at 3:00 PM, and must depart by 9 AM on Sunday. Carpooling is suggested as we have limited parking space at our lodgings. All Scout rooms are assigned, so please do not unpack your gear until your room is confirmed with the Senior Patrol. Scouts are responsible for keeping their area neat, and rooms will be inspected before we depart on Sunday.

Adults are expected to share lodgings, and scouts are not allowed to sleep on the Adult floor. No sleeping in common areas is permitted, and we will have a firm lights out time, when everyone is expected to turn in for the night.

You should plan to pick up your gear at the mountain when you arrive, and will pick up your lift tickets at our accommodations, on Friday evening.

Gear must be returned to the mountain on Sunday when you leave. Lift tickets are valid for Friday through Sunday.

All participants are expected to behave according to the scout law and oath.

Please do not bring snacks (candy, chips, etc) or soda – all food is included.

You can bring a cell phone and/or an IPod with you for the ride up and use at the chalet, however do not wear it skiing as it’s important to be able to hear the other skiers. If you choose to bring electronics or a phone, the troop is NOT responsible for them.
