If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Chase or Mr. Clancy.

Reminder - WE NEED YOUR HELP - The redemption program is struggling.

Bottle and Can sorting - Thursday evenings: 7 PM WHC Garage – Processing returnables for redemption.

We need a few adult volunteers from our organization to help with this program, as this is our fundraising source and assures costs are kept to a minimum. If this program is unsuccessful, other funding sources will be necessary, and costs for all programs will rise.

We need more support from the group to make this program successful. Please see Mr. Chase if you have any questions or can help us out.

Assistance can be as simple as dropping off empty case boxes, helping sort on Thursday, picking up the materials on Wednesdays, or dropping off materials at the redemption center.

Scouts should also be bringing in as many cans and bottles as they can on a regular basis to support the troop.

Thank You Jim Danubio for the donation of an 8 HP outboard engine

Troop 2 would like to thank Jim Danubio of Danubio Repair Services on East Street for the generous donation of an 8 HP outboard engine.

We're still on the hunt for small engines, ideally 2 stoke, older models, for teaching the motorboating merit badge, and a 20 HP outboard as well for our larger transport boat. Please let us know if you have one available for donation.

Thank you to Cubmaster Jim Aieta for beautifying the clubhouse

Troop 2 and the Weymouth Heights Club would like to thank Mr. Jim Aieta, Cubmaster of Pack 2, for transforming the front of the clubhouse. Jim removed the grass and weeds, old rosebushes, and trimmed the tree, adding mulch and several plantings. He's also removed the fence and relocated it to the side of the property, and with the help of Mr. Chase and Mr. Reichardt relocated the Ron Parry Memorial stone to the front of the building as well.

Thanks to his efforts we've got a much greater "curb appeal" and we really appreciate his hard work and dedication.

Troop 2 Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet Invitation

Dear Family and Friends of Troop 2 Scouts,

You are invited to join us for the Troop 2 Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet on May 11 at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, beginning at 5:30 pm. This annual event is our opportunity to gather together to formally recognize and award the achievements of Troop 2 Scouts.

Scoutmaster David Chase will present the Scouting's highest award, the Eagle award to 4 young men who will join over 250 scouts who have earned the Eagle Scout Rank with Troop 2.  In addition to the presentation of Eagle awards, we will recognize and present rank advancements and merit badges to scouts and the Troop 2 Drum Corps will perform.

A turkey dinner with all the trimmings, prepared by members of the Troop and Weymouth Heights Club will be served at 6 pm.  Pasta with butter will also be available.   Bug juice, water coffee, and tea will be provided.  If you prefer a different beverage you are free to bring it. Please no alcoholic beverages as this is a Boy Scout function and alcohol is prohibited.   Kindly consider bringing a dessert for the dessert table.

Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance or ordered in advance and paid for at the door.   Although tickets may be picked up and paid for at the door, it is most helpful to know your family head count in advance so that we can plan and prepare the proper amount of food.  Please let us know in advance how many guests you will be bringing (initially an estimate is okay, to be firmed up as we get closer to the date).

During this event we will be conducting a raffle to support the Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund.  Last year, through the generous donations of Troop 2 families, we were able to raise over $800.00 and funded several Eagle Scout Scholarships. The Eagle Scout Scholarship is available to any scout who achieves the rank of Eagle Scout upon successful completion of a semester of higher education. Please consider donating an item to the raffle or partnering with another scout family to donate an item.   Another option this year is to consider making a small monetary contribution in lieu of an item.  The contribution can be any amount ($5-$10 or whatever you are comfortable with).  These contributions add up quickly and allow us to purchase a large raffle item.  Please send contributions to a weekly scout meeting with your son in a sealed envelope - clearly marked – “Eagle Scout Scholarship Raffle Contribution”. We also ask that you help us support this fund by purchasing raffle tickets at the event.

Kindly fill out the attached form and return to Troop 2 on Monday night or email information directly to troop2weymouth@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Brian Chase

The annual Herring Run cleanup is Saturday, April 6th. Our troop will be participating.

Raffle Items needed for the Troop 2 Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet

The Troop 2 Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet is quickly approaching, and as in the past we are asking scout families to help us fill the raffle table with items.
This raffle is the sole fundraiser for the Eagle Scout Scholarship.  Last year, through the generous donations of Troop 2 families, we were able to raise over $800.00 and funded several Eagle Scout Scholarships. The Eagle Scout Scholarship is available to any scout who achieves the rank of Eagle Scout upon successful completion of a semester of higher education.
Your help is needed to make the year's raffle a success.
Past items have run the gamut from gift cards, gift certificates to local establishments and services, outdoor equipment and scouting items, gift baskets and handmade items.
We would like to receive all items by Friday, May 10th. Items and contributions can be brought to any Monday night scout meeting or can be dropped off at 79 Front Street.
Please contact Teresa Quinton at 781-340-7446 or via email at trjq@comcast.net if you have any questions, need an item picked up, or would are interested in helping with the raffle.

Scoutmaster David Chase selected as Great Ponds District Boy Scout Leader of the Year for 2013

Troop 2 is proud to announce that Scoutmaster David Chase has been selected as the 2013 Boy Scout Leader of the Year for the Great Ponds District of Old Colony Council. This district covers the towns of Braintree, Canton, Hingham, Hull, Randolph, Sharon, and Weymouth. This award was given at the monthly district roundtable on Tuesday, April 2, and will be presented on Friday, May 3rd.

David has been Scoutmaster of Troop 2 since October, 2011, and has served as an adult leader in Troop 2 and Pack 2 since 2007.

He is a Troop 2 Eagle Scout, receiving this rank in 1987 and is a founding member of Pack 2 at the Weymouth Heights Club. He has been a registered member of Troop 2 and the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years.

In 2012 David completed all Scoutmaster position specific training and all optional training, and received the Scoutmaster Trained ribbon for this achievement. He is eligible for the Scoutmaster Key award ribbon in May 2013.

Under David’s leadership our Troop has advanced 10 scouts to the rank of Eagle, maintained an active roster of over 50 scouts, and has led our troop on several events, including the opening ceremonies for the Relay for Life, SOAR2012, and hikes along the Bedford Trail and Issac Davis Trails.
