Great Pumpkin Give-A-Wey Report

Thanks to all who helped out at the Great Pumpkin Give-A-Wey. It was a cold day, but the public attendance at the event was high. We had several former scouts stop at our booth, as well as numerous potential cub scouts, girl scouts, brownies and boy scouts. All visitors to our booth received handouts detailing our programs and bottle & cans info, and a Troop 2 pen as a reminder.

Our booth included a Troop 2 bass drum, which we invited passersby to hit as they visited. We also had cocoa for the scouts, an old boy scout sash, campaign hat, and a bunch of photos of our activities provided by Mrs. Davis.

Our scouts helped the town with the distribution of pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, and received great reviews from the adults involved in these activities for their efforts.

Scouts need to come between noon and 4 PM to town hall, preferably in full uniform, to help with the event and to staff the Weymouth Heights Club table.

Scouts may be asked to work in the pumpkin patch, carving stations, painting stations or with the other events sponsored by the town, and should wear a troop t-shirt under their uniform shirt as well in case they’re helping out.

Parents, if you're attending, please stop by our booth as well!

All the Boy Scouts from Troop 2 arrived back in Weymouth at about 1pm this afternoon. After three days of biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail, some of these boys have done nearly 65 to 70 miles. The Troop had great weather and the trip was very successful. A big thanks go out the boys and Dads that helped make this trip a success.

Bike Trip - Day 2 (with pictures)

We woke to a cool 50 degree morning.  The boys helped Mr. Phillips prepare some of the eggs for our breakfast and we off on our way at about 8:30am.  We drove from our campground to a starting point closer to the Marconi Radio station site - not too close though as we biked about 7 miles and then the boys got to check out the incredible views.  From there everyone biked back to Nickerson State Park for a total of 20+ miles before lunch.  We had a nice lunch of sandwiches and some of Mr. Phillip's famous homemade soup.

Bike Trip - Day 1 (with pictures)

We left Weymouth at 9:30 this morning and caravaned to Dennis.  By 11:30 we had all the scouts on the bike path.  The scouts did an 11 mile stretch of the bike bath to Brewster, where they arrived at our campsite at about 1pm.  The scouts helped prepare a dinner of pasta and meatballs with salad and bread - enjoyed by all.  Spirits are high as we look towards tomorrows 50 mile ride.
