Veterans Day Plans, including Flag Retirement


Our early Veterans Day plans are below.

For all events below scouts must attend in full uniform.


1.     Monday Nov 6 - Weekly Meeting - we will be preparing for the parade.
a.    Drum Corps practice at 7:00 PM
b.    Meeting at 7:30 – Uniform review and inspection

2.      Saturday Nov 11 – Morning - Veterans Day Parade
a.   Meet at the East Weymouth Congregational Church at 9:00 PM
b.   A scout will be reading a poem at the Korean War Memorial, 9:15 AM
c.    Set up for parade (flags, banners, drums) at 9:30
d.    Parade begins at 10 AM, ends at Town Hall at 11.

We will be regrouping after the parade to walk back to the clubhouse for the afternoon activities, with lunch planned for scouts at the clubhouse beginning at 12 PM

3.       Saturday Nov 11 - Afternoon  – Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Whipple Center, 182 Green Street
a.      Scouts report in full uniform to the Whipple Center at 1 PM
b.      Retirement ceremony begins at 2:00 PM, expected to complete at 3:30 PM
c.       Parking available on site

Note – The flag retirement event is town wide, and we will be joined by other Weymouth scouting troops and veterans organizations. Please invite your friends, families and neighbors to this event.
