Troop 2 Updates
Another year on Cliff Island completed successfully, despite the rainy conditions, with 22 scouts in attendance. We expect to award 200 merit badges at our Awards Night in September, and while we were at camp we completed a hike, swamp day wars, cleaned up dead and fallen trees around the island for community service, and welcomed two rookies. We also recognized members of our group who departed since our last visit to the island.
Gear has been cleaned and repacked in the box for next year, and we're slowly putting away the remaining items (boats, trailers, and coolers/igloos)
Thank you to all who attended, and in particular, to the adults who helped out for the week, including our scoutmaster, David Chase, our Troop Committee Chair, Brian Chase, our Camp Director, water, and shopping coordinator, Mark Lamie, our cook, Mike Harper, our master mechanic and engine man, Dave Brummett, our new dad and fishing expert, Denis Catto, our master shopper, Scott Wallace, our pontooon boat captain John Reichardt, weekend helpers Rob Jeanjaquet, Chuck Nardo, and Jim Walsh, our waterfront and boating instructors, Brian Kowalski and Eric Lantz, and our woodcraft instructors, Jim Aieta, Aleks Noviski, and Paul Fuss. Several adults also helped by hauling gear up and back, which we are always indebted for.
We were joined during our week by several Eagle scouts who came to visit - Matt Harding, who brought along Jim Moore for a few laughs, Mark Galluzzo, who paid us a visit with his 6 year old son Matthew and wife Lynne, and Eagles Tim McPhee, Andrew McCabe, and Ian Sibbald, who stopped by the island on Thursday.
