Troop 2 Reminders 12/10 - 12/17

1. Reminder - all advancement, including review of Eagle scout materials (project proposals, applications, books, etc) must be handled before the meeting begins at 7:30. Advancement coordinators and our members of our Eagle Committee are available from 7 PM until 7:30 PM to assist Scouts and to answer any questions parents may have. Scoutmaster conferences, merit badge reviews, and rank advancement reviews can all be scheduled at this time.

2. Work continued on the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge with Mr. Chase with discussion of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Preamble to the Constitution, the Constitution, and the Constitutional Amendments.

As a follow up to class we have a second homework assignment.

Homework 2 - Due Dec 17th
Write a letter about a national issue (can be the issue used for Homework 1) directed to one of our elected officials in Congress (Senator Scott P. Brown; Senator John F. Kerry; Representative Stephen Lynch or Representative Bill Keating) sharing your view. This letter must be shown to Mr. Chase at the class meeting. Please do not send the letter until it has been reviewed.

3.  Work also continued on Robotics and Engineering. Scouts worked with Lego's and Kinex to create robots and reviewed stresses and other factors with bridge building.

4. All monies for the Ski Trip ($135 for skiers, $35 for non-skiers) and all paperwork with parental signatures, details for rentals, etc  must be passed in at  our meeting on 12/17. If you do not complete the paperwork and pass in a check your space is not reserved. There is a waiting list for this event.

5. On Monday, December 17th we will have our holiday party. Scouts should bring a $5.00 gift for the Yankee Swap, which should be scout related. No joke gifts are allowed. Bring a gift YOU would prefer to receive. Scouts are also asked to bring a baked good or other tasty snack for the evening. Uniforms are not required - please wear a Class B Scout Troop T shirt (camp shirt)

6. We also have a special guest joining us for the meeting on Dec 17th, who will tell us stories of his adventures since he was a Scout.
