Troop 2 Weekly Reminder

Troop 2 Reminders
Most important - for all adult volunteers

Sunday 6/29 - Adult meeting - includes renewal of Youth Protection, discussion of roles and expectations for events and participation opportunities. Meeting will be held at the Weymouth Heights Club, at 6:30 PM, and is expected to last until approximately 8 PM.
This meeting is mandatory - we are renewing all Youth Protection certification with a common date, regardless of whether you have already completed this training.

My expectation as Troop Committee Chair is that if you are a registered member of the troop and plan to work with the scouts in any capacity, including at summer camp, weekly meetings, campouts, etc, that you will attend this training on Sunday Evening, 6/29. If you do not attend this meeting you will not be permitted to participate in our program.

Camp Update

1. Camp paperwork has begun to be distributed. As a reminder, payment is due no later than 7/14.

2. Camp cost is $240.00 per scout for the week, and $30.00 per day for adults, with a family maximum of $700.00. Payment must be made in advance of camp.

3. All scouts will need to provide a recent physical/BSA Medical form. As a rule, for ALL events we need to know if your son has any medical conditions, required medicines, or other consideration. In particular, please share with us if your son has been recently hospitalized or is under a doctors special care...this would include any recent hospitalizations, dental work, and any other situations that may cause your son discomfort during the week. For instance, we need a list of all prescription medicines and instructions, and any special notes (fear of dark, spiders, weather, etc) and an up to date contact list in the event we need to reach  a parent.

For summer camp in particular, keep in mind - we camp on an island without electricity or running water - and the closest hospital is at least 30 minutes away from the mainland. Many of our adult volunteers have medical training, however we do not have a doctor on staff. If your son has an existing condition we need to know about it beforehand so we can have an action plan ready.

BSA Medical forms are found at the following URL, and were distributed at our meeting on 6/23
